Freshman Boys Basketball: Acalanes Closes Season Strong With 69–46 Win Over College Park

Acalanes finished the season on a high note Monday afternoon, pulling away early and earning a 69–46 home win over College Park in the season finale.

The Dons set the tone from the opening tip, taking a 16–14 lead after the 1st quarter before opening things up in the 2nd. Acalanes outscored College Park 22–5 in the quarter, using active defense and unselfish ball movement to build a 38–19 advantage at halftime. The momentum carried into the 3rd, where the Dons added 21 points to extend the lead before closing the game with a steady 4th quarter.

Francesco Cangini led the way with 20 points, shooting 7-for-12 from the field and knocking down 4 three-pointers, while adding 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Nico Choulos followed with 12 points on 6-for-7 shooting, providing a spark offensively. Drew Felder added 9 points, connecting on 3 three-pointers, and Bobby Ruhl contributed 8 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 blocks on the interior.

Zenai Kaplanes-Jones finished with 6 points and 3 rebounds, while Eli La Rotonda added 6 points and a team-high 5 assists. As a team, Acalanes finished with 16 assists, hit 12 three-pointers, and forced 15 turnovers, showcasing balanced contributions throughout the lineup.

The win capped a strong season for the Freshman Dons, who finished league play in 1st place, going 6–2 in league and 18–6 overall.
