Freshman Boys Basketball: Dons Fall To Miramonte In Tight 67-66 Contest

Acalanes battled until the final possession Wednesday afternoon but came up just short in a hard-fought 67–66 loss to Miramonte.

The teams were even after the opening quarter, tied 14–14, before Miramonte edged ahead in the 2nd quarter to take a 30–24 lead into halftime. Acalanes responded after the break, outscoring Miramonte 22–21 in the 3rd quarter and setting up a back-and-forth finish. The Dons continued to push in the 4th, scoring 20 points, but Miramonte held on in the closing moments to secure the 1-point win.

Eli La Rotonda led Acalanes with 18 points, shooting 7-for-16 from the field and knocking down 4 three-pointers, while adding 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Zenai Kaplanes-Jones followed with 15 points, connecting on 2 three-pointers and contributing 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal. Francesco Cangini added 14 points, finishing with 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals.

Drew Felder chipped in 7 points, Tyler Cosso added 5 points and 6 rebounds, and Bobby Ruhl contributed 3 points and 6 rebounds. As a team, Acalanes finished with 16 assists and outrebounded Miramonte 41–37, keeping the game within reach until the final buzzer.

The Freshman Dons will look to close the season strong in their final home game against College Park on Monday the 9th at 4:00 PM.
