Freshman Dons Shut Out Las Lomas 2-0; Remain Undefeated

The Acalanes freshman boys soccer team (12-0) continued its strong season with a composed 2–0 road victory over a talented Las Lomas squad, controlling play from the opening whistle and pulling away with two second-half goals.

From the opening minutes, it was all Acalanes. The Dons pinned Las Lomas deep in their own half, setting the tone with sustained pressure and confident possession. The back line, anchored by Logan Lewis and supported by strong communication throughout, made defensive work look routine and quickly shut down any attempts to counter.

Despite multiple attempts from the corner and off of set pieces, Las Lomas managed to clear the ball and escape the half scoreless.

The Dons came out “with a vengeance” in the second half. Seven minutes in, David “The Machine” Penn rattled the crossbar from nearly 30 yards out, the best chance of the match to that point. The pressure finally paid off shortly after on a star turn by Keegan Aldridge. The left winger won the ball cleanly from a defender, broke free, and calmly buried a low left-footed finish to give Acalanes a 1–0 lead.

Las Lomas struggled to generate meaningful pressure the rest of the way as the Dons controlled the tempo. With six minutes remaining, a perfectly placed corner found Jonny Rubin, who leaned in for a low header, guiding it past the keeper to make it 2–0.

Lucas Leingang and Matt Roberts shared keeper duties and earned the shutout in goal. Leingang notched a spectacular late save to preserve the clean sheet. Despite a chippy final stretch, Acalanes stayed composed and closed out another complete performance.

Makai Ramsey was named Man of the Match for his impact and consistency across the field.

Next up for the Dons are cross-town rivals Campolindo Cougars. The game is Thursday 2/5 at 4pm in Moraga. Come out and support the undefeated Dons as they seek their 13th win of the season! Go Dons!
