Varsity Boys Basketball Falls to Oakland on MLK Day

The Dons played at Oakland High on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It was a difficult night on the scoreboard, and not one that needs analysis here.

Instead, we pause to reflect on the words of Dr. King, whose legacy reminds us that how we respond to adversity—on the court and off it—matters more than the result itself.

“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.”

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl—but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.”

“Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education.”

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.”

We honor Dr. King’s legacy by continuing to learn, grow, and move forward—together.
