Boys Freshman Basketball Pulls Away Late for 45-36 Road Win at Arroyo

Acalanes picked up a 45–36 win on the road at Arroyo on Saturday, pulling away in the fourth quarter after Arroyo closed the gap coming out of halftime.

Acalanes set the tone early, taking a 13–10 lead after the first quarter behind steady ball movement and disciplined defense. The Dons continued to control the pace in the second quarter, outscoring Arroyo 11–5 to carry a 24–15 advantage into halftime.

Arroyo responded after the break, putting together its best offensive stretch of the game and trimming the deficit during a 15–5 third quarter. Acalanes answered with its strongest finish of the afternoon, holding Arroyo to just six points in the fourth while scoring 16 of their own to close out the win.

Drew Felder led all scorers with 16 points, shooting 6-for-8 from the field and knocking down two three-pointers, while adding six rebounds. Francesco Cangini followed with 14 points on 5-for-9 shooting, contributing five rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block in a complete two-way performance. Bobby Ruhl provided a strong presence inside with six rebounds and four points, helping Acalanes control the glass late.

Acalanes closed the game with a defensive fourth quarter and timely execution to finish off the road win.
