The Acalanes JV soccer team hosted cross-town rivals Las Lomas on Tuesday night in a tightly contested match that came down to a single goal.
The Knights came out firing from the opening whistle, catching the Dons off guard and scoring early to take a 1-0 lead. The goal set the tone for what would become a defensive battle, with Las Lomas maintaining offensive pressure throughout the match.
However, the Dons’ backline rose to the challenge. Defenders Mason, Jonathan, and Matthew formed an impenetrable wall, frustrating the Knights’ attack time and again. Between the posts, goalkeeper Luca Ginnoccio delivered a stellar performance, making crucial saves to keep his team within striking distance.
The Dons had several exciting scoring opportunities, including a penalty kick attempt by Coen Gilson that had the home crowd on their feet. Despite sustained pressure, the Dons couldn’t find the equalizer they desperately sought, making the score 0-1 when the final whistle blew.
