Boys JV Soccer Battles vs Richmond in Season Opening Scrimmage

Under an absolutely gorgeous winter sunset sky, the The Acalanes JV boys emerged ready to battle Richmond High School in their season opening scrimmage on Tuesday.

Richmond struck first, finding the back of the net within the opening 15 minutes of play. The Dons’ defense stiffened from there, with goalie Bennet George (#1) making some key stops, with Mason Hennessey (#12), Owen Westin (#15) and Alec Schwarz (#3) battling in the midfield to hold Richmond to just the single goal for the half.

Acalanes emerged from halftime with renewed energy and determination. The Dons mounted an impressive comeback in the second half, netting two goals to take the lead in the match at 2-1 (Eros Sanchez #9 and Noah Frankel #10).

However, Richmond refused to go quietly. In the final quarter of the scrimmage, Richmond responded with two quick goals that stunned the Dons and reclaimed the lead. Despite Acalanes’ efforts to find an equalizer in the closing minutes, Richmond held on for the 3-2 victory.
