JV Football Ends Strong, Night-Night to the Knights, 42-8

Acalanes @ Las Lomas, Nov 7

The final game of the season did not disappoint, if you are Don. So, 42 points, let’s start there. Top Dons on the night: Trey Roberts (11), the big dog, with three touchdowns and two, two point conversions. He was QB Colton Whalen-Schlosser (9) top target on the night with four receptions, he also had three carries. Joaquin Bordi (26), had a great night with six carries, with two of those being for touchdowns. Dax Vail (33) added six to the scoreboard with a running TD. The always reliable kicker, Gino Rubio (57) came through with two extra points. Well played gentleman, and as always remember to thank your offensive line.

The defense played very tough. Two standouts on the line: Grady Branagh (67) and Will Siamis (88). Siamis (88) had his best tackling outing of the season with six, and swamped the Knights’ QB on multiple occasions.

Branagh (67) had his game of the season on both sides of the ball. He batted away a pass on defense, and his blocking was amazing on offense. Colton, Trey, Joaquin and Dax send their thanks. Branagh (67) was the star of my favorite offense play of the game. The old hook and lateral looked like new: QB Whalen-Schlosser (9) with a perfect toss to Max Volpian (7), who effortlessly lateraled to Branagh (67), who then ran for 40 yards and a near TD. So fun.

The rest of the D-line also stepped up. Logan Houston (99) held his own with three tackles. Joe Wilson (45) delivered constant QB pressure, and logged another sack. Matei Bolata (62), put up another solid performance. Otto Soblik (83) got his first tackle.

The always productive linebacker squad delivered. Rocco Ottobre (80) had his best game. The linebacker package of: Bordi (26), Vail (33), Owen Blanchard (12) and Ottobre (80) had a combined tackle total of 14.

Your top tackler on the night was Mason Andersen (19) with six. He also had a takeaway. Dylan Icay (18) also had an interception. Other notable backfield performances from Jake O’Brien (13) with four tackles and Marco Long (16) with tough coverage including breaking up a pass.

Volpian (7) on special teams, was a standout. Volpain (7) gets plenty of “press” for his performance at wide receiver, but his bold kick returns were impressive, on this final night of JV football. He had three exceptional returns, one of which put him in the end zone, but was called back for penalty, way away from this play, so I wanna give him some credit.

Great Season Dons!
