The Girls Varsity Golf Team continued their strong season this week, going toe-to-toe with league-leading Campolindo in a highly competitive match at Contra Costa Country Club on Monday, September 29th.
Although the Dons ultimately came up just short, falling by only seven strokes, the performance marked a significant leap forward. Just two weeks ago, Campolindo secured a dominant 59-stroke win over the 2nd place Dons and many other teams in the SPSV Girls Invitational Tournament. This week, however, the Lady Dons showcased just how far they’ve come—demonstrating resilience, momentum, and the kind of chemistry that signals great things ahead.
Coming off a championship victory at the Silverado Tournament just last week, the Dons brought confidence and sharp execution into the match. Their steady play pushed Campolindo from start to finish, proving that the gap is quickly closing as post-season play approaches.
Junior Miracle Gu led the scoring with a composed round of 45, notching two pars and narrowly missing two birdie opportunities. Senior Grace Wolpert turned in her best round of the season with a 48, highlighted by pars on both par-5s—an impressive display of distance and control. Fellow seniors Taylor Baker and Jordan Huskins each added consistent rounds of 49, contributing with strong approach shots and smart play around the greens. Sophomores CiCi Ning and Chloe Vignoles rounded out the lineup, helping the Dons post a competitive team score of 243.
This narrow loss to a top team in the league is more than just a close result—it’s a sign of a team coming together at exactly the right time. With DAL and NCS on the horizon, the Lady Dons are proving they’re ready to compete at the highest level.
Next up: A crucial back-to-back stretch with matches against College Park (10/6 at Contra Costa) and Las Lomas (10/7 at Boundary Oaks). Let’s continue to support our Lady Dons as they build momentum heading into the final stretch of the season!
Go Dons!
