It was a tale of two matches this week for the Acalanes Girls Golf Team.
On Monday, Sept 8th, the Dons battled hard in a tight Away match at the challenging Orinda Country Club, ultimately falling to Miramonte by just two strokes. Despite the narrow loss, the team brought their “A” game and showed grit on one of the toughest courses they’ll face all season. Highlights from this match include junior Miracle Gu parring the 9th hole (Par 5, Named: Horseshoe) and senior Jordan Huskins came in with a par on hole number 4 (Par 5, Named: Meteor).
But the Dons didn’t dwell on the loss — they came back strong.
Just two days later, on Wednesday, Sept 10th, Acalanes hosted Miramonte at Rossmoor and delivered a dominant 16-stroke victory, winning 238 to 254.
Senior Taylor Baker led the way with an impressive 46, followed closely by freshman Cameron Koch who posted a strong 47. Jordan Huskins had 3 pars in a row and along with sophomore Cici Ning, shot solid 48s, while Miracle Gu added a consistent 49 mixing in a trick shot birdie over the railing on the course… senior Grace Wolpert once again lived up to her name, showing true grace under pressure.
The Varsity now look ahead to the Inaugural Invitational Tournament at Blue Rock Springs on Monday, Sept 15. Stay tuned!
