It was a great day for a tennis match on Wednesday as the Acalanes JV Girls Tennis team took on Emerald High School for their first home pre-season match of the year. The Emerald team was short on players, so a few of their girls played twice – and all Acalanes players were able to get in a match.
The team has a strong singles line-up so far this year – we can’t wait to see these ladies continue the momentum!
Line 1: Kennedy Wilson (8-0)
Line 2: Alessa Smith (8-1)
Line 3: Averly Ammerman (8-0)
Line 4: Phoebe LaBonge (8-0)
Line 5: Carissa Penn (8-1)
Line 6: Avery Marshall (8-0)
Our doubles players also had a strong showing. Line 1 (Gemma Satterfield and Lotta Griemens) won 8-0, Line 2 (Parker Ivory and Daisy Carysforth) won 8-4, Line 3 (Ava Bell and Livvy Lewis) won 8-1, Line 4 (Lulu Lancour and Brook Lewis) won 8-3, and Line 5 (Quinn Curley and Riya Patel) won 8-0.
At Line 6, Rory Jackson and Sera Gundogdu had an exciting comeback winning 8-5 while the team rallied around them cheering from outside the fence. Once they took the match, the team continued cheering on Sara Tsang and Casey Eun who were matched against two of Emeralds singles players, ultimately winning 8-1.
The team’s next match is Wednesday, September 10th at Piedmont High School (4pm start). Take a drive through the tunnel and into the cooler air to cheer the girls on!
