Dons Softball Battle Hard in Back-to-Back Matchups, Look to Bounce Back After Tough Week

The Acalanes Dons softball team faced a challenging stretch last week, dropping back-to-back games against Encinal and Las Lomas to bring their season record to 6–4. Despite the outcomes, the Dons showed moments of strong play and resilience against tough competition.

On Tuesday, Acalanes took on Encinal but fell 16–6 in a high-scoring matchup. The Dons struck first in the opening inning, using aggressive base running to steal home and take an early 1–0 lead. However, Encinal quickly responded with a home run in the bottom of the first and continued to build momentum, extending their lead to 4–1 by the end of the second inning.

Acalanes continued to battle, highlighted by a solo home run from Santana Tamayo in the fifth inning. Maya Shoenhair started in the circle for the Dons, while the offense showed discipline at the plate, drawing six walks. June Natal led the team with two RBIs, and Gabby Huerta paced the Dons with two hits. Nella Rawski added patience at the plate with two walks, but the Dons were unable to close the gap.

The following day, Acalanes traveled to Las Lomas for another tough contest, falling 8–5 in a competitive game. The Dons once again got on the board first when Nella Rawski singled in a run in the second inning. Las Lomas answered in the bottom half of the inning and took control with a 2–1 lead.

Shoenhair returned to the circle, pitching six innings and striking out five. Offensively, Vanessa Choi led the way with a strong 2-for-3 performance at the plate, while both Choi and Rawski drove in two runs each to keep the Dons within reach. Despite their efforts, Acalanes was unable to complete the comeback.

After a demanding week, the Dons will look to regroup and bounce back as they return home to face Campolindo on Thursday. With their competitive spirit and strong lineup, Acalanes will aim to get back in the win column.
