On Wednesday, March 25, the Dons headed to Las Lomas for a DAL dual meet. The boys dominated with a decisive 93-43 win over the Knights.
There were tremendous performances all around, and it was a great night for track.
Some highlights from the meet include:
Throws: Deonte Littlejohn took first in Discus with 155’0,” scattering the competitors on the infield as he blasted beyond the boundaries, and won Shotput with a throw of 50’1.”
Jumps: The sprightly Dons dominated in the jumps! Grant Ricker won the Triple Jump with a leap of 42’3.” Alexis Le won the girls Long Jump with a jump of 15’9 and Illias Kaplanes-Jones won the boys Long Jump in 22’7.5.” Samantha Griscavage won the firls High Jump in 4’8” and Landon Deily won the boys High Jump 6’0.”
A special shout out to the unique talent of Harry Zimmerman, who took third in the High Jump, second in the 800, while also running the 3200, showing up for his team and giving it his all.
4×100: The boys A Team (Matthew Schwarz, Illias Kaplanes-Jones, Jackson Boselli, River Lockwood) ran a swift 42.56 for the win. The girls A Team (Julia Munter, Cameron Thornton, Olivia Kemp, Isabelle Agnost) ran a 50.25 for first and the girls B Team (Danica Green, Genevieve Tarsa, Avery Titus, Margaret Stirling) took second in 51.61.
River Lockwood won the 300 hurdles in 41.79, and took 2nd in the 110 hurdles with a personal best of 16.09.
Olivia Kemp won the 300 hurdles in 50.83.
Freshman Jason Rossetter ran a personal best in the 3200, taking first with a run of 10:37.15.
Cameron Thornton won the 200 in 27.26.
And our Aca boys swept the sprints. In the 400, Benjamin Mickelson took first in 49.96, Matthew Schwarz took second in 52.34, and Julian Hood took third in 52.54.
In the 100, Illias Kaplanes-Jones ran a fast 11.11, Jackson Boselli took second in 11.33, and Finneus Aiken took third in 11.51.
And in the 200, Illias Kaplanes-Jones won in 22.46, Benjamin Mickelson took second in 22.48, and Matthew Schwarz took third in 23.00.
4X400: The boys A Team (Matthew Schwarz, Julian Hood, Benjamin Mickelson, River Lockwood) wrapped up the meet with first place run of 3:32.77.
In other notable news, Acalanes Track had a great showing at several meets on Saturday, April 4th. At the Stanford Invitational, the Acalanes boys 4×100 team (Matthew Schwarz, Illias Kaplanes-Jones, Jackson Boselli, River Lockwood)took third place, running a season best of 41.82, placing them 4th in Acalanes history. Also at Standford, Deonte Littlejohn won the Discus with a tremendous throw of 167’0.”
At the Dave Schimansky Memorial Pole Vault meet, Miles Moore took 2nd place with a personal best jump of 14’06” which should place him 7th on the Acalanes the leaderboard.
And at the East Bay Invitational, the girls 4×100 team (Julia Munter, Cameron Thornton, Olivia Kemp, Isabelle Agnost) took 3rd place, running a season best of 50.02.
