The Acalanes Dons JV Girls Lacrosse team battled to a hard-earned 10–8 victory over Monte Vista of Danville in a game that showcased grit, sportsmanship, and relentless offense.
Due to Monte Vista’s short roster, the game was played 6 v 6, and in true Dons fashion, we even loaned a few players to ensure a competitive matchup. Despite the adjusted format, the intensity never dipped. The Dons came out aggressive from the opening draw, pushing transition, attacking the crease, and firing off shot after shot. Multiple Lady Dons found the cage, with balanced scoring across the lineup and strong midfield play that kept the pressure on all evening.
Monte Vista deserves credit for staying tough despite limited depth. Their goalie turned in an impressive performance, racking up more than 10 saves and keeping the Mustangs within striking distance. It was a true test of persistence for the Dons’ offense, which kept attacking and ultimately broke through when it mattered most.
Defensively, Acalanes communicated well and forced key turnovers. A few green cards were issued by the referee — for those unfamiliar, that signals a minor delay-of-game penalty — but nothing that shifted the momentum in a meaningful way.
Most importantly, the Dons showed poise, teamwork, and strong field awareness throughout. Whether hustling for ground balls, resetting cleanly on attack, or sprinting back on defense, this was a full-team effort. Acalanes walked away with the 10–8 win and plenty of momentum heading into the next matchup.
Go Dons!
