JV DONS LADIES LACROSSE HAD A HOT VICTORY AT CARONDELET

On an uncomfortably hot afternoon with the temperature reaching 93 degrees on the field the JV Ladies Dons Lacrosse team traveled to Carondelet to play the might Cougars. The Carondelet Women’s Lacrosse program is traditionally a power house. However not on this evening when the Aca Ladies won the game 12 to 6 to increase their perfect record to 8 Wins and 0 Losses!

The Dons were without several regulars including three midfielders, two defenders and one attacker. However, those amazing young women that were present would not be stopped. The Cougars started out with a 3 to 1 lead. Their Coach Steve was a bit nervous that the heat and the missing players would be too much for the Dons to continue their streak of wins. He was completely wrong. Behind three amazing midfielders Allie Schofield, Eloise Greeson, Choe Vignoles and new players Brooke Lewis and Claire Hawkins, the Dons began to control the field on both ends at that point to rally the team to a hard fought 6 to 4 half time lead but the Dons were not done yet. As a new player thrown into a pressure packed game Brooke shined. Allie, Eloise and Cloe ran and hustled the entire game with barely a rest. We could not have won without them.

One would be remiss not to mention the play of attack players Talia Tichnor, Stella Degroot, Savy Marinez, Louie Kubas, Yali Avrahami, Lexi Chaput and Willow Ward helped control the ball in the offensive zone and assist Talia in scoring 7 goals…yep 7 OMG simply amazing. We also must mention that Stella’s re-defense and ball movement played a very large role in this victory.

After the first half the Defense became an iron wall and until the last 10 seconds of the game only allowed one goal. Led by Bea Deignan, Avila Payne, Riley Zirkle, Claire Hawkins, Penny Haslam, Delphine Fisher and newcomers Caroline Tumulty, Sydney Piacente and Hadley Hastings and Goalie Persephone Quine the defense shut down Cougars high powered offense.

At halftime the Dons were only leading by two but they came out and were playing with more confidence and hustle. The Cougars cut the lead down to 6 to 5 but that was it. The amazing spirited and character driven young Dons score 6 straight goals to put the game away. For the coaches and the fans it was a beautiful sight to see. Great passes, great shots, great hustle and great everything else contributed to the Dons pulling ahead by 7 with a minute to go. They worked incredibly well together and managed to turn a hard fought game into another route. Every win so far has been by more then five goals. This team has been FIRE! When the heat cleared the Dons had won the game 12-6! They will remember this one.

This was a great character building victory for this team who will play both Campo and Miramonte at their houses next week. We will be ready!

LETS GOOOOOOOOOO DONSSSSSSSSS!
