Dons Beat Piedmont 9-8 on the Road in Final Seconds of the Game!

The blue-clad Acalanes Dons JV squad faced a unique challenge on the road against the purple-and-white Piedmont Highlanders. With just 11 players available, the Highlanders requested the game be played 7-on-7 from start to finish — a fast-paced, wide-open format that tested depth, conditioning, and composure. That posed an interesting contrast for Acalanes. The Dons carry 19 players, 14 of whom are playing high school lacrosse for the first time. They were also without one of their top players, OB MacLeod — reportedly enjoying a contract “hold out” while sunning on a Hawaiian beach during game time. No reinforcements were coming.
First Quarter – Feeling It Out (2–2)
Joshua Sinha got the Dons on the board early, scoring with 8:59 remaining in the first. Two minutes later, freshman Calder Williamson doubled the lead. Piedmont responded, however, and the teams ended the opening period knotted at 2–2.
Second Quarter – Dons Build a Cushion (6–4)
Acalanes found rhythm in the second, pushing ahead to take a 6–4 lead into halftime. The short-field format was opening up transition opportunities, and the Dons capitalized. First-year player Finn Rivera erupted for a hat trick in the quarter, showing poise well beyond his experience level. #3 Cash Woehrle also added a goal.
Third Quarter – Momentum Swings (Piedmont 7–6)
The Highlanders surged in the third, briefly taking a 7–6 lead. But it wasn’t without resistance.
Fourth Quarter – Late-Game Heroics (Acalanes 9–8 Final)
Woehrle struck again in the fourth, setting the stage for a dramatic finish. With the clock winding down and the game hanging in the balance, Rivera took matters into his own hands. Scooping the ball at midfield with 0:25 remaining, he attacked decisively and fired home the go-ahead goal with roughly 0:15 left on the clock — sealing a thrilling 9–8 victory.
Rivera finished with four goals on eight shots and added an assist — a breakout performance. Williamson contributed one goal and one assist (1-for-4 shooting), while Sinha added one goal on four shots and Woehrle scored 2.
In net, another first-year player, goalie Marion Hollister, continued his exceptional play. Facing 19 total shots, Hollister recorded seven saves and provided steady composure behind the defense when it mattered most.
Playing 7-on-7, missing a key contributor, and relying heavily on first-year players, the JV Dons showed resilience and grit. The comeback win keeps Acalanes undefeated at 5–0 — and proves this young squad knows how to finish.

Dons Beat O’Dowd 5-2!

The Acalanes Dons JV lacrosse squad turned in another strong performance, defeating the Bishop O’Dowd Dragons 5–2 in a well-controlled contest.
The Dons struck late in the opening quarter when Cash Ricker found the back of the net with just 0:25 remaining, giving Acalanes a 1–0 edge after one.
In the second quarter, Finn Rivera extended the lead, pushing the score to 2–1 by halftime after the Dragons managed to get one back.
The third quarter belonged to the Dons. Rivera tallied his second goal of the game with 5:38 remaining in the period, and Joshua Sinha followed with a goal of his own at the 2:35 mark, stretching the advantage and firmly shifting momentum toward Acalanes.
In the fourth, #1 Nolan “No No” Potts delivered the finishing touch, burying a shot off an incredible feed from lefty attackman Calder Williamson — a highlight-reel connection that sealed the 5–2 final.
Between the pipes, first-year goalie Marion Hollister continues his outstanding season. He allowed just two goals on 10 shots and recorded four saves, anchoring a defense that has been rock solid all year.
A complete team effort, timely scoring, and another lights-out performance in goal lifted the Dons to a decisive win.
