After Hard-Fought Playoff Battle Varsity Boys Soccer Celebrates Memorable Season

Acalanes wrapped up its season with a year-end celebration event on Monday.  The Dons’ season ended following a hard-fought 0–0 draw against Redwood in the NCS quarterfinals before Redwood advanced in a penalty shootout .  Thank you to the players for their commitment and heart, and to coaches Paul Curtis, Jacob Carroll, and Fernando Flores for their leadership and dedication throughout the year.

The game was a defensive battle from start to finish. Goalkeeper Caleb Nguyen delivered an outstanding performance, turning away dangerous corner kicks and long throw-ins. In front of him, the Acalanes back line—Aidan Parnell, Eli Romick, Trevor Krick, and Harry Zimmerman—kept Redwood’s attack in check with disciplined and physical defending.  The Dons generated chances of their own, with Luke Wilson, Maor Ziskind, and Omri Noiman leading the attack. In overtime, Acalanes pushed forward with renewed pressure, with Santi Vignoles and Karsten Harmeyer helping test Redwood late before the match ultimately went to penalties.

The season concluded with a year-end celebration honoring players from the varsity, JV, and freshman teams. The following awards were given to the following Varsity Team players:

Defensive Player of the Year:  Aidan Parnell
Offensive Player of the Year:  Omri Noiman
Coaches’ Award:  Zachary Birrell
Most Valuable Teammate:  Maor Ziskind

In addition to Varsity Awards, DAL All-League Awards were announced:

DAL First Team All League:  Omri Noiman
DAL Second Team All League:  Aidan Parnell
DAL Honorable Mentions:  Zachary Birrell, Caleb Nguyen, Eli Romick
