MORAGA, CA – On a crisp afternoon at home, the Acalanes Freshman Dons remained undefeated with a commanding cross town victory over Campolindo, delivering a complete performance defined by aggressive, relentless dominance from start to finish. The Dons controlled the match from the opening whistle, limiting Campolindo to very few real chances and turning sustained possession into goals.
Leading the way was Logan Lewis #10, named Man of the Match, who anchored the back line all game and capped his standout performance with an assist and his first goal of the season in the second half.
From the start, Acalanes earned multiple early corners and kept Campolindo pinned deep. Ten minutes in, the pressure paid off when Nick Stewart #15 found the net off a scramble in the middle following a corner to open the scoring. This was the striker‘s 13th goal of the season.
Just one minute later, the Dons struck again. A cross into the box was punched out by the Campolindo keeper, but only as far as midfielder Jonny Rubin #6, who stepped into a powerful strike and ripped his 11th goal of the season to make it 2-0.
Acalanes continued to press, and with 12 minutes remaining in the first half, Ben Ferber #8 controlled a pass from 30 yards out, Ferber calmly slotted it into the right side to make it 3–0 at the break.
The second half followed the same script. Relentless pressure, strong defensive organization, and quick transitions kept Campolindo chasing. Twenty minutes in, Dons winger Samuel Chamberlain #19 controlled the ball over the top on the left side and finished cleanly to push the lead to 4-0.
The final statement came off another corner. Logan Lewis #10, who has been a defensive stalwart all season, rose above everyone and powered home a header for the fifth goal. It was a fitting moment for a player who truly did it all in this match. David “The Machine” Penn #17 was instrumental in most of the scoring as he notched 3 assists, bringing his team-leading total to 11 on the season.
With the win, the Acalanes Freshman Dons continue their unbeaten run and move their record to 13-0. Kasper Zarzycki #5 and Owen Lee #18 stood out as the entire team paired disciplined defending with an attack that kept Campolindo under constant pressure.
Next up, the Dons travel to Northgate who they beat earlier in the tightest match of the season. Come cheer on the team Tuesday at 4pm. #GoDons
