Acalanes Freshman Basketball Take Control Early, Defeat Miramonte 63-49 at Home

Acalanes controlled the game in the middle quarters Monday afternoon, using a strong second-quarter surge to secure a 63–49 home win over Miramonte.

After a competitive opening quarter, the Dons shifted momentum in the second, holding Miramonte to just 9 points while opening up a halftime lead. Acalanes continued to dictate play after the break, answering Miramonte runs and maintaining consistent separation through the final period.

Francesco Cangini led all scorers with 22 points, finishing 6-for-12 from the field and knocking down 4 three-pointers, while also pulling down 7 rebounds.

Eli La Rotonda followed with 17 points, shooting 7-for-12, while adding 4 assists and 4 rebounds.

Acalanes received strong contributions across the lineup. Zenai Kaplanes-Jones posted 6 points and 11 rebounds, anchoring the glass, while Drew Felder added 11 points, including 3 three-pointers. The Dons recorded 14 assists, reflecting improved ball movement throughout the lineup, and forced 21 turnovers, consistently turning defensive pressure into scoring opportunities.

The Dons’ ability to turn defensive pressure into sustained offense ultimately separated them down the stretch.

Acalanes will return to action Saturday the 10th, hosting Alameda at home with tip-off scheduled for 12:00 pm.
