JV Boys Soccer – Commanding 3-0 Win vs. Petaluma

The Acalanes Boys Junior Varsity soccer team secured their second win of the season with a commanding performance against the Trojans, dominating the early minutes and locking down the defense in the second half.

The Dons’ offense wasted no time establishing control, thanks to some dynamic free-kicks from Coen Gilson (#7). Just 10 minutes into the game, Gilson delivered a perfectly placed free kick., leading to an assist from Alec Swartz to Eros Sanchez (#9), who was quick to tap in the rebound and put Acalanes on the board.

The connection between Gilson and the forward line proved lethal again shortly after. In an almost identical play, Gilson’s free kick dropped in the front of the net, where JP Birdwell (#11)  gave the assist to Grant Cortez (#4) who doubled the Don’s lead by tapping in a second goal.

Continuing to dominate offensively through the first half, Gilson dropped a 3rd free kick directly to Alec Schwartz (#3), who found the back of the net and gave the Dons a decisive 3-0 lead heading into halftime.

With a comfortable lead, the Acalanes defense took center stage in the second half. The back line held strong, successfully shutting out the Trojans neutralizing scoring attempts. The team’s defensive intensity ensured the clean sheet and secured the victory, cementing a well-earned second win for the JV squad.
