The Acalanes boys varsity team traveled to San Francisco for back-to-back games against quality opponents on Friday December 19 and Saturday December 20 to close out 2025. The Dons split the weekend, defeating Lowell High School 3–2 before dropping a close contest to Tamalpais High School, 2–1.
Friday, December 19 vs. Lowell High School
Acalanes outlasted Lowell High School for a hard-fought 3–2 victory on a rainy Friday night in San Francisco, capping a demanding week of finals with a strong team performance in soggy conditions.
The Dons struck early when Karsten Harmeyer scored an opening goal on a play that started in the defensive end and was worked up the field by Charlie Phillips and Omri Noiman, allowing Harmeyer to convert a long-range strike to give Acalanes the lead. Just minutes later, the Dons doubled their advantage in thrilling fashion as Noiman caught the Lowell goalkeeper off his line, launching a perfectly struck shot from the Acalanes half that sailed over the outstretched keeper and into the net. Acalanes carried the momentum into halftime, converting a corner kick when Trevor Krick punched the ball into the back of the net to send the Dons into the break with a 3–0 lead.
Lowell responded with increased pressure in the second half and pulled a goal back early to make it 3–1, but the Dons remained composed. Caleb Nguyen delivered strong play in goal, Aidan Parnell helped shut down several attacks, and Krick came up with a goal-saving tackle to preserve the lead. Offensively, Acalanes continued to apply pressure through Andres Duke, Luke Wilson, and Bryan Lurie. Lowell added a goal in the final minute, but it was too late as the Dons secured the 3–2 win.
Saturday, December 20 vs. Tamalpais High School
Acalanes dropped a hard-fought 2–1 decision to a strong Tamalpais High School side in a match that concluded in near-darkness due to power outages in San Francisco.
The Dons fell behind 2-0 early after surrendering two goals in the opening stages of the first half, but responded with resilience and composure. From that point on, Acalanes tightened defensively and successfully weathered sustained pressure from the Red-Tailed Hawks. Zachary Birrell, Eli Romick, and Harry Zimmerman delivered strong performances to stabilize the match and keep the Dons within striking distance.
