Varsity Girls Tennis Season Comes to a Close

The Varsity Girls Tennis participated in NCS for the first time in several years, competing in D1 as the #15 seed and taking on #2 seed Irvington High School from Fremont. A few of the Irvington players had impressive 6.0 Universal Tennis Ratings (UTR), a global tennis player rating system that rates all players on a single 16-point scale, without regard to age or gender. Nonetheless, the Dons played great and with amazing effort.  The Irvington coaches complimented our sportsmanship.  We ended up with a score of 0-7.

The stars of the match were Hetty Lofting and Riley Zirkel who played a THREE hour match which didn’t end until after 5:00.  They came so close to winning!  The first set was tied 6-6, but Irvington won the tiebreaker.  Hetty and Riley won the second set 6-4.  Per NCS rules, they had to play a full third set, which went to 7-5 for Irvington.

Go Dons!
