Varsity Girls Tennis Closes out Regular Season with 9-0 Victory over College Park as Seniors Honored

The Varsity Girls Tennis wrapped up the season on Tuesday, taking on College Park on Senior Night. After recognizing the seniors with speeches and cupcakes, the Dons cruised to a 9-0 victory.

On the singles side, Elisabetta Sokolova won 6-1, 6-2 at Line 1, Aamena Shipchandler won 6-2, 6-0 at Line 2, Grace Colaco won 6-4, 6-3 at Line 3, Emily Roberts won 6-0, 6-1 at Line 4, Audrey Tseng won 6-2, 6-0 at Line 5, and Jasmine Taylor won 6-3, 6-2 at Line 6. Emery Stern won her extended match 6-1.

In doubles, the Line 1 team of Lauren Foster and Ridhi Patel won 6-2, 6-0. At Line 2, Molly Jones and Grace Britto won 6-2, 6-1. The Line 3 team of Lauren Andersen and Audrey Parkin won 6-1, 6-0, In the extended match, Riley Zirkel and Elouise Kubas won 6-2.

All of the seniors were named players of the match.

As the season is coming to a close, I wanted to give a few shoutouts. Most importantly, I wanted to give a huge shoutout to our coaches Sharon Langtry, Kathy Simon, and Alex Duff. They did an amazing job supporting our girls and getting them prepared for every match. Their hard work was evident as the girls improved throughout the course of the season.

Also wanted to give a shout out to Suzie Lofting for being our team parent, Amy Jones for being our Booster Rep and hosting the end of season party on Sunday, Jackie Zirkel for being the team photographer and hosting the pre-season party, all the carpool drivers, and all of you for reading these articles and going to the matches to cheer on the girls. Go Dons!!

The team wraps up the season on Tuesday, October 28 at Northgate in the post-season DAL tournament. Matches begin at 10am. Everyone is welcome to come out and watch!  The format is 8-game pro sets, so the rounds should go pretty quickly.
