JV Girls Tennis Team Wraps Up Stellar Season

The JV Girls Tennis Team wrapped up their regular season yesterday, and we just have to say, Well Done, Ladies! Their final record this season, including pre-season matches and league play, was an impressive 12-1. Some notable victories along the way included wins over Bishop O’Dowd (Coach Gary’s alma mater), Miramonte, and both Campolindo matches.

On Tuesday, the team took on Northgate on our home courts, where the ladies dominated their opponents. In singles, Alessa Smith, Kennedy Wilson, Averly Ammerman, Carissa Penn, and Avery Marshall all won their matches. Our doubles teams showed up just as strong, with victories from Lotta Griemens and Gemma Satterfield, Ava Bell and Parker Ivory, Livvy Lewis and Brooke Lewis, Riya Patel and Daisy Carysforth, and Rory Jackson and Quinn Curley.

On Wednesday, in lieu of a regular practice, the team played in the annual Acalanes Varsity-Junior Varsity tournament, where the two teams mixed for a fun afternoon of match play. Then on Thursday, they traveled to College Park, where the team swept all lines in both singles and doubles. Might the parent-supplied bagels, fruit, and fruit snacks this season have something to do with the wins? This writer can’t say for sure, but it surely hasn’t hurt!

The season wraps up tomorrow, Saturday, October 25th, with an all-day Junior Varsity Invitational Tournament at Freedom High School. It’s been a whirlwind of a season, and starting next week it’s time for these ladies to hang up their racquets and take a well-deserved break—at least for a couple of days before they dive into off-season training and other sports!

This wouldn’t have been such a successful season without our fearless leaders, coaches Gary Fiammengo and Lee Ann Gove. They put in countless hours making sure the team was constantly improving while also having fun and building lasting friendships.

Congratulations on a fantastic season, ladies – and readers, in case you’re still here – stay tuned for a tournament wrap up next week!
