Campolindo @ Acalanes, Oct 17
The Dons came ready to play, but unfortunately could not contain the run game of the Cougars on Friday night. But we had several players playing their best football yet.
Trey Roberts (11) had an outstanding showing on both sides of the ball. On “D” Roberts (11) had a clutch interception deep in Aca territory. He had five carries, one resulting in a TD, followed by a two point conversion.
QB Colton Whalen-Schlosser (9), had a great game, connecting with four different receivers: Max Volpian (7), Roberts (11), Mason Andersen (19) and Santiago Felix (10). He carried the ball five times, one for six points, and kicker Gino Rubio (57) followed up with one.
Brennan Visnick (23) and Owen Blanchard (12) had their best defensive showings of the season. Visnick (23) knocked down five Cougs, Blanchard (12) with three tackles. Houston (99) did a solid job on the line, also logging three tackles. Dax Vail (33) took top tackling honors with seven of his own.
The “boys in the backfield” kept the Campo offense from making this an attack in the air. Alec Schwartz (4) had outstanding downfield coverage. Marco Long (16) had a TD saving tackle, as did Dylan Icay (18). Mason Andersen (19), broke up a pass in the end zone.
