Varsity Girls Tennis Falls to Northgate 5-4 in Tight Contest

The Varsity Girls Tennis team continued their homestand Thursday afternoon, taking on Northgate High School. Despite Northgate coming into the contest with an 8-2 record, the Dons played really well and were narrowly defeated 5-4.

On the singles side, Elisabetta Sokolova lost 6-4, 6-4 at Line 1, Aamena Shipchandler lost 6-2, 6-2 at Line 2, and Grace Colaco and Emily Roberts both were defeated 6-3, 6-2 at Lines 3 and 4 respectively. The Dons won Lines 5 and 6 via tiebreakers. Audrey Tseng won at Line 5 by a score of 6-2, 5-7, and 10-4 in the tiebreaker, and Jasmine Taylor won 6-2, 3-6, and 11-9 in the tiebreaker.

On the doubles side, Lauren Foster and Ridhi Patel lost 6-1, 6-4 at Line 1. Sadie Moise and Grace Britto moved up to Line 2 and kept their winning streak going, winning 4-7, 6-4, and 10-1 in the tiebreaker. Hetty Lofting and Riley Zirkel won 6-4, 6-1 at Line 3 and were named players of the match.

The Dons won all three extended matches as Molly Jones and Delphine Fisher won 8-2, Tatum Duff and Audrey Parkin won 8-3,and Emery Stern won 8-1.

The team hits the road to play College Park on Tuesday, September 30 @ 4pm
