JV Football Takes Down the Mt. Diablo Red Devils, 29 to 7

The JV Dons logged their second league win, with a victory over Mt. Diablo, a final score of 29 to 7, on September 26th.

Holding the Red Devils to only seven points, was courtesy of this stellar Don’s defense. Matei Bolata (62), had an outstanding showing, and was your top tackler on the night with seven tackles. Joaquin Bordi (26) and Dax Vail (33) came in with six take downs. Also getting in on the action: Brayden Hattersley (2), Max Volpain (7), Santiago Felix (10), Trey Roberts (11), Marco Long (16), Brennan Visnick (23), Joe Wilson (45), Gino Rubio (57), Rocco Ottobre (80), Otto Soblik (83), Will Siamas (88) and Pedro Sakaguti (51).

Other notable defensive efforts include an interception by Dylan Icay (18), a blocked pass by and a sack from Joe Wilson (45). Fumble recoveries by both Joaquin Bordi (26) and Grady Branagh (67). Will Siamis (88) also got in on the sack action.

The offense was led by a duo of QBs, Nate Lederman (6) and Jake O’Brien (13). Max Volpian (7) was the favored target by both QBs. He had seven receptions, including a 38 yard connection with Nate Lederman (6), and a touchdown. Mason Andersen (19) had four receptions, including a 30 yarder. Trey Roberts (11) also took down a pass for 30 yards. QB Nate Leaderman (6) had a keeper for his first TD on the season.

The ground game was strong. Joaquin Bordi (26) took two of his carries into the end zone. Brayden Hattersley (2), Dax Vail (33), Trey Roberts (11) and Jake O’Brien (13), all had productive nights on the ground.

Kicker Gino Rubio (57) once again delivered. One field goal and two extra points can be added to his impressive season tally.

Notable play on special teams came from Will Siamas (88), who once again used all 6’4” to block yet another kick. Maybe this is a weekly thing, let’s hope.
