The temperature was perfect in Santa Rosa as the Acalanes cross country team began this morning’s second meet of the season. Twenty-seven teams converged on Spring Lake Regional Park to compete in 2 mile races of approximately 40 to 80 runners each. The course had hills but the kids crushed it, with some achieving personal records. The meet was well worth the drive.
In the first race of the day, the Frosh race (which included up to 5 runners per school), Jason Rossetter clocked a blistering 11:14.48 pace to come in 5th place out of 81 runners, and he achieved the 3rd fastest time of the day for the Acalanes team. Then, with only a short break to take a sip of coffee, we watched ACA runners stack up at the finish line with Dylan Kubiatowicz, Greyson Blair and Matthew Roberts flying over the line to place 20th, 21st and 22nd respectively and helping to secure ACA a team race finish of 3rd place. The elder Harry Zimmerman secured a fifth palace finish and Cade Corpita flew past 78 competitors to take a 3rd palace medal home. The lady Don’s showed some strength and grit as Charlotte Keyter led the Acalanes crew, speeding up in the last 200 meters, to give the ACA ladies a strong finish.
