Varsity Softball Splits with Northgate

The Dons dropped a league game on Thursday 14-5, to split the season series with the Northgate Broncos.  The Dons swept Campolindo and Las Lomas earlier in the year, so their run against district teams this year was pretty solid.

Sophomore Santana Tamayo (#21) led the girls with three runs batted in.  She just missed her fifth home run of the season by inches in the bottom of the third inning.  Santana has had a great season at the plate.  She leads the squad with 34 runs batted in.

After Tamayo’s triple, freshman catcher June Natal singled to center to score Santana and reduce the Don’s deficit to 7-5 after three innings.  Unfortunately the contest would not get closer.

Senior Esa Orman (#22) had a nice game with a home run in the 1st inning, a walk and a single with two runs scored, and senior Emme Young had a hit and a run scored.  Both players continue to be impressive in the field.

Junior Maya Shoenhair pitched four and two thirds innings and sophomore Marguax Stone pitched an inning and a third. The Don’s take on the Alhambra Bulldogs in Martinez on Tuesday and finish the regular season at home against the Clayton Valley Ugly Eagles on Thursday at home.  The Division3 NCS Playoffs start next week for the #6 ranked D3 Dons.

Let’s have a big week!
