
First off – big congratulations to all the swimmers who qualified for NCS! NCS is one of the most competitive sections in the state for swimming. Here are the five Dons who qualified for individual events:
Ella Del Rosario – 200 Free, 100 Free
Sadie Suppiger – 100 Free, 100 Back
Anna Motes – 200 IM, 100 Breast
Malin Stone – 200 IM, 100 Back
Audrey Martin – 100 Breas
The Dons sent four relay teams to NCS, which can name up to 8 swimmers per relay:
Girls 200 Medley Relay: Malin Stone, Anna Motes, Tess Veronda, Sadie Suppiger and Sara Williams
Girls 200 Free Relay: Lucy McShane, Elyse Budke, Sara Williams and Ella Del Rosario
Girls 400 Free Relay: Sadie Suppiger, Anna Motes, Ella Del Rosario, Malin Stone and Sara Williams
Boys 400 Free Relay: Gavin Barclay, Jace Carter, Braden Dunton and Mason Schlehr
It was a HOT HOT Friday at the Concord Community Pool as the top 40 swimmers and relay teams in each event prepared for the prelims of this super competitive meet. The Girls 200 Medley Relay of Malin Stone, Anna Motes, Tess Veronda and Sadie Suppiger started things off strong with a 1:49.94 time and a 10th place finish! This is a State Consideration time (though swimmers can only qualify for State in the FINALS of NCS), with Anna Motes delivering a blistering 29.4 split on the breast leg and Sadie Suppiger going 23.91 to bring it home in the Free. The team qualified for the finals on Saturday (top 16 places go to finals) AND now sit at #6 all-time AHS!
In the 200 Free, Ella Del Rosario went 1:59.74 to finish 23rd overall.
In the 200 IM, Anna Motes posted a PR of 2:13.67, over 2 seconds off her previous best time! She finished 20th overall. Malin Stone also cut nearly a second off her best time to finish 31st with a time of 2:16.67.
In the 100 Free, Sadie Suppiger finished just shy of her best time, finishing 12th with 52.40 and qualifying for the finals on Saturday. Ella Del Rosario was 27th with a time of 54.36.
In the 200 Free Relay, the team of Lucy McShane, Elyse Budke, Sara Williams and Ella Del Rosario finished in 28th place with a time of 1:45.33.
In the 100 Back, Sadie Suppiger went 56.59, a new PR, improving her time as #2 AHS all-time. This time is 2 seconds under the State Consideration time, and less then three tenths off the Automatic time! She finished in 5th place and qualified for the A final on Saturday. Malin Stone finished in 33rd place on Saturday with a time of 1:03.36.
In the 100 Breast, Anna Motes knocked nearly 2 seconds off her time to finish in 13th place with a 1:06.13 – a State Consideration time! She improves her #5 all-time AHS time, and qualified for the B final on Saturday! Audrey Martin swam a PR of 1:07.05, finishing in 17th place (first alternate for the finals on Saturday) and moved up to #6 all-time AHS!
In the 400 Free Relay, the girls team of Sadie Suppiger, Anna Motes, Malin Stone and Ella Del Rosario knocked off almost 6 seconds from their qualifying time, to finish in 9th place with a State Consideration time! They qualified for the B final on Saturday. The boys team of Braden Dunton, Gavin Barclay, Jace Carter and Mason Schlehr cut almost 5 seconds off their entry time, moving up seven places in the standings and finishing in 31st place with a time of 3:24.78. Mason went a 48.71 in the anchor leg – wow!

The 200 Medley Team of Sadie Suppiger, Anna Motes, Tess Veronda and Sara Williams finished in 13th place overall with a time of 1:51.36!
Sadie Suppiger came into the 100 Free finals as the 14th seed with a time of 52.40, and went 51.77 in the finals, to finish 12th overall! She is now an alternate for the State meet! Sadie still stands at #3 all-time AHS in this event.
In the 100 Back, Sadie continued to shave time. She swam 56.59 in prelims, a new PR and an improvement on her #2 AHS time. In the finals, she went 56.33 for a 7th place finish, but she met the AUTOMATIC STATE qualifying time exactly! She is still #2 AHS, and she is GOING TO STATE!
Anna Motes went 1:08.22 in the B final of the 100 Breast, finishing in 16th place.
The 400 Free Relay team of Anna Motes, Sadie Suppiger, Sara Williams and Ella Del Rosario finished in 11th place overall with a time of 3:39.17.
