Varsity Softball starts NCS Playoffs Push!

The Dons wrapped up the season last Thursday against the league’s toughest team, the Clayton Valley Ugly Eagles on Senior Night.  They lost to another D1 power 10-1 in a game that was close early and got out of hand late.  Now it’s on to the D4 NCS Playoffs to take on Saint Joseph’s-Notre Dame of Alameda on Wednesday.

Seniors Emme Young, Avery Robb and Esa Orman were recognized with their families before the game.  The girls all played all four years for the Varsity squad and left their imprint on Acalanes softball in their own, unique ways.

Maya Shoenhair started in the circle for the Dons.  She pitched five innings and gave up four earned runs, with four walks and two strikeouts. Sophomore Marguax Stone relieved her and pitched two innings, giving up two hits, two walks and no earned runs.

Offensively the team was led by sophomore third baseman Santana Tamayo with a hit, two walks and a run batted in.  Senior center fielder Emme Young had a hit and so did sophomore shortstop Riley Zirkel.

It’s NCS Playoff time! Cheer on the girls on Wednesday at 4pm in Alameda as they begin their postseason push.  It’s win or go home.  Let’s Go Dons!!!
