Girls Lacrosse Hosts Oakland Lacrosse Club

On Saturday, the Acalanes Dons Womens Lacrosse Program hosted the Oakland Lacrosse Club for a day of Lacrosse, Lunch and camaraderie. We do this to support OAL and have our young ladies get to know and interact with other kids from the Oakland High Schools. The mission of Oakland Lacrosse is to support Oakland Public School students in becoming healthy, confident, and self-empowered youth effectively to navigate systems, overcome challenges, and achieve their education and life goals”. They are an amazing group.

Over fifty kids from Oakland and 35 Junior Varsity Players from Acalanes and we invited Campo who was able to bring about 7 girls. We first scrimmaged against Oakland and then a mixed team of “Acalindo” or called “Campalanes” scrimmaged against Oakland. It was a blast. However then came the best part we mixed all of the players together from all teams and played a longer scrimmage. After the scrimmages were completed we hosted everyone to Pizza and Drinks with the kids intermingling and getting to know one another. It was a wonderful day.

We have been hosting them for the same program for the last three years and it is truly appreciated as we are the largest supporter of Oakland Lacrosse as we also send more kids to their fundraising jamboree then any other school! It is a wonderful program that embodies so much more then just lacrosse and the empowerment of young women of every background. Maybe next year make it can be a school wide event to be celebrated by all of the school.

A lot of effort goes into the planning and preparation for this all day event and thanks must go out to all JV players, the Varsity players that refereed, our Parents that volunteered their time and effort for so many things, our Coaches and others that are part of this organization.

It was such a great day and we cant wait to support Oakland Lacrosse in the Future!
