It was a cold and windy day, a day you had to fight hard to find success, and in Amin’s honor that is exactly what the team did, the girls beating Northgate 81-53 and the boys winning 91-44. The girls and boys 4×100 relay teams started the meet with victories and Amin’s throwing brothers completed the ‘Amin Sweep’, a 1-2-3 sweep of the shotput and the discus.
There were incredible performances throughout the meet, with personal bests and season records at almost every event. While far too many to call out individually, some very notable performances for the day included:
The Throwers winning 31 of the potential 36 points, with boys sweeping the shotput (Bethel Imasuen, Deonte Littlejohn, Santiago Trejo Chanelo) and discus (Deonte Littlejohn, Bethel Imasuen, Oliver Stoneman), the girls taking 1st and second in the shotput (Amari Hollins and Mackenzie Siewert) and winning the discus (MacKenzie Siewert). WHAT A TRIBUTE TO THEIR THROWING FRIEND AMIN!!
Haley Chelemedos’s 3 win, 1 second place performance, winning the long jump, the 300 meter hurdles (in her first ever race in that event), taking 2nd place in her first high jump of the season, and running the second leg of the 4×100 relay team
River Lockwood’s 3 win day, winning the 100 and 300 hurdles and anchoring the 4×100 relay
Illias Kaplanes Jones 3 win day, winning the long jump, the 100 and leading off for the boys 4×100 relay team
Neve Murphy’s victories in the girls 800 and 1600
Harry Zimmerman‘s victories in the boys 800 and 1600
Sophie Chinn‘s record improving win in the 100 (12.86) and leading off for the girls relay team
Cameron Thornton‘s 2nd place in the 200 and 400 (in a very fast 1:01.64) and running third leg of the 4×100 relay team
Isabelle Agnost‘s 2nd place in the 100 and anchoring the 4×100 relay team
Matthew Schwarz’s 2nd in the 100 and 200 and running 2nd leg of the 4×100 relay team
Individual event winners for the day were: Dulci Vail (high jump), Anju Sekhon (3200), Lesley Trowbridge (triple jump), Landon Deily (high jump), Grant Ricker (triple jump) and Miles Moore (pole vault)
Great, great meet, cheering for you Amin!
