Girls Varsity Lacrosse Cruises to 18-4 Win Over Granada

It was a beautiful, warm Friday evening under the lights at Acalanes . . . until it was freezing. So began the evening. Despite the temperatures dropping 20 degrees in a 2 hour span, the Dons kept things hot on the field in a dominant victory over Granada. Teamwork was the name of the game as 10 out of the 18 goals scored were on well placed assists.

On offense, it was raining Hat Tricks as Stella Hamilton, Christina Hageboeck, Grace Colaco and Emily Roberts each netted three goals a piece to fuel the dominant performance. Cat Liu tallied two goals and Grace Eppinger, Charlotte Gellman, Reese Imrie and Kate Beaver each scored one. Liu had her own hat trick of three assists, while Roberts and Maya Stafford each added two. Hageboeck, Colaco, and Gelman chipped in one assist apiece to round out a well-balanced offensive effort.

At midfield, the Dons made scoring possible with their adept draw controls, gaining possession and setting the attack up to score. Imrie led with 6, Colaco, Eppinger and Hamilton each had 3 and Beaver had 2. Defensively, the team never let up pressure, making it hard for the Matadors to even get close to the goal. Claire Zimmerman, Reese Tierney, Edie Berznasky, Reese Westphal and Kate Uffleman held Granada to only four goals on the night. When Granada managed to break through the defensive wall, goalie Sarah Hession was there to stop them, even intercepting a pass to shut down the half.  By the end of the game, the Dons had cruised to an 18-4 win.

Next up for the Dons is an away game at Piedmont on Tuesday at 7pm! Go Dons!l
