Varsity Boys Lacrosse Delivers Decisive Blow, Dominate Urban Blues in 16-2 Rout

The Dons returned from spring break a little rusty but managed to deliver a resounding performance Tuesday night, overpowering the Urban Blues of San Francisco in a 16-2 victory. From the opening whistle, the Dons showcased a potent offense and an impenetrable defense, leaving the Urban Blues struggling to find any footing in the contest.

The first quarter set the tone for the dominant display. Brody Darin scored first for the Dons, igniting an early offensive surge. Simon Appel quickly followed suit, and Caleb Mason further extended the lead. Griffin Rotundo joined the scoring spree, and Grant Condy capped off a high-scoring opening period for the Dons. While the Urban Blues managed to put two on the board, the Dons’ five-goal outburst established an early 5-2 advantage.

The second quarter saw the Dons continue their offensive onslaught. Brody Darin notched his second goal of the game, followed by another from Grant Condy. Jan Korzeniowski then stepped into the spotlight, firing in two consecutive goals, further widening the gap. Condy added two more tallies before the halftime whistle, completing an impressive first half for the Dons. Meanwhile, the Dons’ defense tightened its grip, completely stifling the Urban Blues’ attack. The defensive unit, spearheaded by outstanding efforts from Luca Premo, Henry Finegold, and the formidable goalie Val Grossi, rendered the Urban Blues scoreless for the entire second quarter, leaving the Dons up 11-2 at the half.

The second half mirrored the dominance of the first. Condy picked up right where he left off, scoring early in the third quarter. Mason added his second goal of the contest, and Darin completed his hat-trick, further cementing the Dons’ commanding lead. The Urban Blues continued to struggle against the unwavering Dons’ defense, with Kyle Santner in goal keeping the Urban Blues scoreless for the entire second half.

The final quarter proceeded swiftly under a running clock, a testament to the Dons’ significant advantage. Jan Korzeniowski managed to net another impressive goal, and Simon Appel put the final stamp on the victory with the Dons’ 16th goal.

The Dons head into their toughest part of their schedule with a 9-2 record and will face San Marin, Piedmont and College Park next week.
