JV Girls Lacrosse Secures Strong 8-3 Win Over College Park

The Acalanes Dons JV girls’ lacrosse team delivered a commanding performance Monday evening in Pleasant Hill, defeating College Park High School 8-3.

From the opening draw control, Acalanes set the tone with aggressive offense and quick transitions, putting early pressure on College Park’s defense. The Dons struck first within the first few minutes when Stella DeGroot scored and never relinquished the lead.

Acalanes’ offense was led by a balanced attack, with multiple players contributing to the scoring effort.  Svea Staino had 2 goals, one in each half. Defensive players Julia Lyons, Maddie Obertello and Ruby Bogan each had 1 goal, while midfield players Ella Culbertson and Michela Barbano each added a goal. The midfield unit and defense controlled possession for much of the game, creating scoring opportunities through passing and strong draw control. The Dons entered halftime with a 5-0 lead and maintained momentum throughout the second half.

Defensively, Acalanes held College Park to just three goals, thanks to strong communication and multiple loose ball controls by Molly Jones, Julia Lyons, Ruby Bogan, Michela Barbano, Maddie Obertello, Stella DeGroot, Savannah Martinez, Svea Staino, Lexi Chaput, Ella Culbertson, Bea Deignan, Alexa Bantique, Penny Haslam, and Dora Henel. Persephone Quine had a standout performance in goal. College Park had a few strong possessions late in the game, but Acalanes’ defense stayed composed to close out the win.

The win improves Acalanes’ JV record to 14-1 as the team heads into the final games of the season. College Park, despite the loss, showed resilience and flashes of strong play, especially in the second half. As we head into the final few games, a huge thank you to coaches Ella, Scott and Steve and all the parent volunteers!
