The Acalanes Girls Varsity Lacrosse team delivered a commanding performance Tuesday night, defeating the Berkeley Yellow Jackets 19-8 in a well-rounded team effort.
Offensively, the Dons were firing on all cylinders. Meaghan Churchill and Catalina Liu each netted 4 goals, leading the scoring charge. Grace Colaco and Campbell Evans added 3 goals apiece, while Reese Imrie tallied 2. Christina Hageboeck and Charlotte Gellman each contributed a goal to round out the scoring. Churchill also distributed the ball with precision, recording an impressive 5 assists. Maya Stafford added 2 assists, while Evans, Hageboeck, Imrie, Kate Beaver, and Liu each had one.
Acalanes dominated the draw circle with Colaco controlling 10 draws, setting the tone for possession throughout the game. Liu added 5 more draw controls, keeping the momentum firmly in the Dons’ favor.
Defensively, Claire Zimmerman and Grace Eppinger played key roles in disrupting Berkeley’s offensive rhythm. Their hustle and pressure led to multiple turnovers, giving the Dons critical chances to transition into scoring opportunities. Goalie Sarah Hession had a strong night between the pipes, recording 7 clutch saves to help seal the win.
With this victory, the Dons continue their strong season and look ahead to a big matchup on the road. They’ll face Miramonte this Friday at 7:00 PM.
