Today Acalanes played the last of four interleague teams, Clayton Valley. We knew going in that the Eagles were soundly defeated by our peers, so the lower half of JV was activated today and they came through like champs. Because most of the scores were convincing wins, I won’t break down each match – see the line scores towards the bottom. The boys look like they are back in form and ready for the last three matches against our league rivals Campo, Miramonte and Northgate. We are hoping to get our missing players back by then too, but we will put our best back-up line up in place if that’s not the case.
Our last home match of the season is Thursday, April 24, against Northgate. For those parents who are new to the Acalanes traditions, this is the night we recognize our seniors as this is the last home league match of their high school tennis careers. Parents can come onto the courts and take pics of their student-athletes as we kick off the match. After the match, the seniors present their prepared speeches and, of course, there will be food to help celebrate. We hope to get a great turnout of players and parents. As a reminder, our seniors this year are Sammy Foster, Danny Goldwyn, Kaya Hoeberechts, Nick Owens, Carsten Ristow and Dylan Rocca.
We had a great showing today of parents and friends supporting the match. Thank you so much. Even Coach Peter made it to the match straight from a flight back from Phoenix. I also appreciate the kind words about a certain video that apparently went viral with the team and the school’s front office. The boys will run some laps for that! Go Dons! Coach Rick
