On Tuesday night, the Girl’s JV lacrosse team hosted Bishop O’Dowd and continued their dominance. Although Bishop O’Dowd’s defense played hard, the Acalanes offense was too much to handle, and the final score was Acalanes 18 and Bishop O’Dowd 4. The fans love watching these girls play together and listening to coach Steve’s dynamic commentary and Coach Scott and Coach Ella’s positive feedback. Even when they are winning, Coach Steve keeps the girls on their toes and wants them to continue elevating their game. At one point, the fans all shared a laugh as Steve told his sideline “I hope you girls are watching these passes. It’s like watching a horror show out there. We’ve got to work on our passes”.
However, as usual, the highlights outshined any low points. The powerhouse offense including Cate “No Mercy” Mercier (3 goals), Samantha “Swifty” Swift (1 assist), Ella Culbertson (2 goals), Savannah “Savvy M” Martinez (3 goals), Stella “I’m Groot” DeGroot (2 goals), Talia Tichenor (3 goals), Michela Barbano (1 goal), Allie Schofield (2 goals), Lexi Chaput and Eloise Greeson, was just too much for Bishop O’Dowd. The solid defensive line including Julia “Lightening” Lyons, Molly “the Wall” Jones, and Ruby “the Glove” Bogan, Bea Deignan, Avila Payne and Livvy Lewis stopped several runs by Bishop O’Dowd and supported the offense by running the ball up the field and making key assists. Ruby and Bea each had one goal as well. Chloe and Persephone did an outstanding job in goal.
Our coaches did a great job of rotating players and giving the entire team the opportunity to gain experience and contribute to the team’s fierce offensive play. Avila, Tatum, Claire, Livvy, Delphine, Taryn, Willa, Nena, Olivia and Colbie all jumped into their positions with great attitudes, played aggressive, and stopped Bishop O’Dowd from gaining any momentum. Come cheer on this team at home on Friday night vs. Miramonte at 5:30!
