The Acalanes Dons continue to prove they’re a team on a mission. After recently defeating Marin Catholic and Bishop O’Dowd, they faced off against the James Logan Colts, another opportunity to showcase their relentless pursuit of victory, one game at a time, one run at a time. With exceptional pitching, solid defense, and just enough offense, the Dons emerged with a 1-0 win, reinforcing that sometimes, all you need is one. ALL IN!
Sophomore Austin McMannamon took the mound with determination, delivering a performance that kept the dangerous Colts’ offense in check. Over six innings, McMannamon allowed just one hit and no runs, striking out five and walking two. His control was impeccable, throwing 43 strikes out of 67 total pitches. McMannamon silenced the high-powered James Logan lineup, giving his team the perfect foundation to capitalize on their own opportunities.
Behind McMannamon, Acalanes’ defense was steadfast. Brady Quinn entered in relief and efficiently closed the game, throwing just 10 pitches—seven of which were strikes. Quinn made two crucial putouts from the mound and capped the game off with a strikeout, earning the save and securing the 1-0 victory. His performance exemplified the Dons’ mentality: stay sharp, stay focused, and let the game unfold one pitch at a time.
Offensively, Acalanes made their lone run count. In the third inning, shortstop James Stadt delivered a key double down the left-field line, bringing in pinch runner David Roux for the game’s only run. Stadt finished 2-for-3 at the plate, providing the spark the Dons needed. It was a reminder that in baseball, it’s not about racking up runs, but about capitalizing on every opportunity—and the Dons did just that. Drew Asadorian and Tyler Winkles also added hits to the scorebook.
James Logan, a team that has averaged 8.3 runs per game this season, came into the game with their offense firing on all cylinders. But the Dons weren’t having it. The Colts, coming off dominant victories, were shut down completely by the Dons’ strong pitching staff. The Dons played with the kind of discipline and focus that left no room for error.
This victory doesn’t just give the Dons a confidence boost—it launches them into full-on momentum mode as they gear up for their next challenge: the Vintage Crushers in Napa. With Vintage recently taking down Campolindo and Benicia, Acalanes is revving up the engines on I-680 North, ready to crash the party and rewrite the script. Watch out, Crushers, here come the Dons!
