Varsity Boys’ Soccer Secures Hard-Fought Draw Against Richmond

Anticipating a challenging match due to the absence of several starters, the Acalanes Dons varsity boys’ soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw against Richmond. While the scoreline suggests a lack of offensive action, the match featured numerous scoring opportunities, with contributions from several subs, including Aidan Parnell, Jeremy Lara, Elliot Van Ornum, Grey Helfrich, Harry Sheffler, Maor Ziskind, and Zack Birrell. The first half was evenly contested, with both teams creating chances. Acalanes’ Ben Pecci was a constant threat on the left wing, repeatedly eluding his defender but narrowly missing the target. Parnell also forced a good save from the Oilers’ goalkeeper with a well-struck shot from the edge of the box. In the second half, the Dons’ attacking unit, comprised of Pecci, Lara, Santi Vignoles, Omri Noiman, and Liam Parks, intensified their pressure on the Richmond defense. Despite their efforts, they were unable to find the decisive goal.

Ultimately, Acalanes felt they deserved more from the game. However, their defensive unit, anchored by outstanding performances from Ryan Rho-Baity and Eitan Ronick, along with goalkeeper Hunter Crandall, secured a clean sheet. Man of the Match goes to Zack Roder! The draw moves Acalanes’ season record to 11-3-2. Cheer your Varsity Dons today, at CVH 7pm, Thursday, then at HOME vs. Campolindo 7:15pm!
