The rain never quite let up Saturday afternoon as the Frosh boys took on Emerald High for the second time this season. With the clear direction of Varsity Coach Paul Curtis, stepping in for Frosh coach Gene, the boys kept structure and worked to break the opposition’s offensive chances. With consistent pressure, the boys finally scored when #4 Santi Felix sent a monster free kick past the goalie. Before the end of the half, Emerald was able to even up the score. In the second half, defensive coordination led by #16 Grant Matter, #13 Marcus Yakaitis and #18 Pedro Sakaguti worked to keep Emerald scoreless for the remainder of the game. Meanwhile, #6 Owen Westen capitalized on a deflection from the goalkeeper, putting the Dons up 2-1. Shout-out to “Man of the Match” #21 Alec Schwartz, and to #15 Teddy Mrachek for their work in the midfield, and to all the boys who after playing tough through the chilly drizzle left with satisfying vindication over Emerald High. Next up Frosh play Campolindo at HOME this Thursday at 4pm!
