Men’s Varsity Soccer shows grit in a double comeback vs College Park. Currently ranked 2 in NCS DIII they will begin NCS Playoffs this Wednesday!

The Dons rallied from behind to secure a thrilling 3-2 victory over College Park in their final regular season match before the NCS playoffs. The Falcons scored first on a well-placed corner kick, with a player collecting a deflection at the back post and firing past the Dons’ keeper from close range. Acalanes responded with sustained offensive pressure, featuring dangerous runs from Ben Pecci on the left wing, supported by Niko White’s attacking prowess on the right and Jonny Roth’s creative play in midfield. Eli Romick, Colby Ebner, Zach Birrell, and Pecci all had scoring opportunities, but the College Park defense held firm. Defensively, Griffin Dubois disrupted Falcon attacks on the left, Eitan Romick neutralized long throw-ins and through balls, and Simon Appel controlled the defensive midfield. The second half began as a tense, back-and-forth affair. Acalanes goalkeeper Caleb Nguyen made a crucial save on a deflected shot following a College Park corner. The Dons finally broke through in the 62nd minute when Eitan Romick’s free kick found Omri Noiman’s head in the box, leveling the score at 1-1. However, College Park quickly regained the lead. From the ensuing kickoff, a Falcon player launched a long-range shot that sailed over the Acalanes keeper and into the net, making it 2-1. Minutes later, after a strong defensive play by Roth, White sent Pecci racing upfield. Pecci finished clinically, slotting the ball into the bottom right corner to tie the game at 2-2. In the 74th minute, Acalanes cleared a low free kick attempt, finding Pecci, who delivered a perfect pass to a wide-open White. White then showcased his speed and skill, placing a decisive shot past the College Park keeper for the game-winner, sealing a dramatic 3-2 victory for the Dons. Man of the Match goes to keeper, Caleb Nguyen. Come cheer your Varsity team in Larkspur against Redwood High this Wednesday at 3pm for their first NCS Playoff game!
