JV Girls Lacrosse Opens the Season With a Truly Impressive 10-4 Win Over Amador Valley

It was a sunny Wednesday afternoon when the JV Ladies Lacrosse team taking the field
for the first time this season. The Lady Dons were starting and entirely new lineup while also
missing two of their top players and Captains as a result of the great run by Soccer. However,
their results were the same, another victory for Acalanes JV Girls. That makes 19 in a row and a
total record of 34 wins and 2 losses dating back to 2023. One of those two losses was to
Amador Valley High School. However this game the scrappy, hustling Lady Dons would not be
denied.
The Game started out with three goals by the Dons. Including 2 of Cate Mercier’s 6
goals scored (that is correct a double hat trick) during the game and one of Freshman Talia
Tichenor’s three goals. Beautiful assists by Svea Staino, Allie Scofield and Samantha Swift and
the Dons were cruising. Offensively Svea who was starting her first game ever for the Dons was
everywhere. She won almost every draw control, picked multiple loose balls and had multiple
fantastic passes for assists during the game.
However the tough Amador Dons were not going away. They had two players that were
as good as any JV player I have ever seen. These girls dominated but they were not match for
what may be the best Acalanes JV defense of all time. Amador cut the score to 3-3 but the
defense adjusted by double teaming those two and forcing errors by the entire Amador squad.
Julia Lyons, Molly Jones, Ruby Bogan and Katelyn Weiss along with subs Bea Deignan, Livvy
Lewis and Eloise Greeson were unbeatable as Amador only scored one goal the rest of the way.
New Goalies Persephone Quinn and Chloe Lloyd shut down the few shots Amador had. At half
time the Dons were only up 7 to 4 but did score the last two goals of the first half to increase the
lead. One of those goals were on an incredible play by Julia who went COAST TO COAST.
Such an incredibly athletic maneuver to take the ball and run through the entire Amador team
and shoot and score!
This athletic and scrappy Acalanes JV Girls Lacrosse team, outran, out hustled and out
lacrossed Amador (one of their players was kicked out for two yellow cards). The offenses re-
defense led by Stella Degroot, Savanna Martinez, Stella Pacheco, Avila Payne, Lexi Chaput, Yali
Avrahimi and the rest of the Attack and the defenses continued amazing play kept a stunned
Amador team from even getting a shot off in the third and fourth quarters. We would be remiss
not to mention the middies again consisting of Talia, Allie and Svea with the help of Dora Henel
and others absolutely controlled the field the entire game. Amador had no answer for these
young and hustling Dons. The effort on the field was a wonderful sight to see from every player
that entered the game.
The Final Score was Acalanes 10 and Amador 4. A hard fought scrappy team win. As
one fantastic Amador player said after the game “we expected to win but you guys outplayed
us”. She was half correct in that statement! Great first win. LETS GOOOOOOOOO DONS!
