
In perfect weather conditions at Freedom High School in Oakley, the Acalanes Dons Rugby Club delivered a dominant performance, securing a commanding 67-12 victory over Liberty High School.
The Dons were relentless from the start, combining sharp attacking play with solid defense. Junior flanker Bryce Birdsong (#7) returned to his natural position after two games at center and made an immediate impact. His outstanding defensive presence and a sensational try earned him Man of the Match honors.
Up front, senior prop Bethel Imasuen (#1) was unstoppable. His powerful carries battered the Liberty defense, and he capped off a commanding performance with a well-deserved try, earning him Forward of the Match.
In the backline, sophomore center Danny Dunne (#12) made a triumphant return from injury, showcasing his speed and vision by crossing the try line three times, securing Back of the Match recognition.
Newcomer Caleb Birmingham (#6), also a sophomore, impressed with a solid defensive showing, earning him Rookie of the Match.
The Dons now turn their focus to their final challenge of the season: a clash against De La Salle next Saturday, March 1st, 3 PM at Pat Vincent Field, St. Mary’s College.
