Prior to heading to San Diego, the girls defeated an undefeated Sacred Heart Cathedral team which was ranked #17 in the state by Calhisports. The game took place Dec 21st and the result was a 78 to 55 victory. Dulci Vail scored a team and season high 31 points that game.
In San Diego the girls played in the NCAA Platinum Bracket (top bracket for the 3-day tourney). In the first two games the Lady Dons routed talented So Cal teams of Paramount and San Juan Hills. In both games the lead reached 30 points before the dogs were called off in the 3rd quarter. In the Championship Game the opponent was San Ramon Valley who many expect will be an NCS Open contender this season. Our girls jumped all over SRV to lead 25 to 4 at the end of the 1st quarter and pretty much coasted the rest of the way. The final score was 72 to 57.
Dulci Vail and Ariana Hallstrom earned All Tournament honors, while KK Lacanlale was named Tournament MVP. Sophie Chinn was incredible all tournament just 1 week back from sitting out 10 months to recover from injury.
