Last Tuesday, the Dons fought to a 1-1 draw against Sonoma Valley on Tuesday at Acalanes Stadium. They opened the scoring early when Eitan Romick capitalized on a corner kick, redirecting the ball into a Dragons defender who deflected it into goal. Eitan Romick named Man of the Match.
This tie only pumped the boys up for the Thursday game against Deer Valley. Traveling to Antioch, they unleashed a relentless attack against Deer Valley, dominating possession throughout the match, with Ben Pecci, Colby Ebner, Santi Vignoles, and Harrison Sheffler leading the charge. The breakthrough came in the 33rd minute when Pecci intercepted a defensive pass, quickly advancing the ball and finding Ebner at the far post for a clinical finish. Just minutes later, Ethan Wilberts delivered a precise through ball to Ebner, who rounded the keeper and doubled the lead.
The second half began with Acalanes seemingly in control. However, Deer Valley pulled one back with a well-struck free-kick. Undeterred, the Dons regained momentum and sealed the victory. A corner kick caused chaos in the box, and Jonny Roth capitalized on the ensuing scramble to score the third goal.
Eitan Romick and goalie Hunter Crandall anchored a solid defensive performance, while the attacking quartet continued to impress! Man of the Match goes to Hunter Crandall and Colby Ebner.
