Varsity Girls Water Polo Honors their Fabulous Seniors

Acalanes seniors Kate Roberts, Maddie Walsh, Levand Koopah, and Ellie Budke

We honored our seniors for the last home game of the season versus Monte Vista High School. The fans showed up as our four seniors played their last home game. Thank you Ellie Budke, Levand Koopah, Kate Roberts, and Maddie Walsh, for all of your hard work and dedication to Acalanes Water Polo.

Once the ceremony was finished, it was time for the Lady Dons to get to work! Injured senior, Maddie Walsh, was all smiles as she jumped in the pool to start in her final game. The Mustangs were fast and won the sprint, but sophomore Finley Graff started off the game with a strong goal from set.  On the next possession, senior Kate Roberts stole the ball to regain possession which junior Ella Del Rosario was able to capitalize to give the Dons a 2-0 lead. Junior Olivia Whipple’s defense at set was epic and prevented the Monte Vista Mustangs from scoring until the very end of the quarter.

The Lady Dons really got things started in the second quarter with a four-goal run. Two more goals from Ella Del Rosario followed by two more from Finley Graff bring the score to 6-1. Just like the previous quarter, Monte Vista was able to add one more before the buzzer.

Quarter three started with another great goal by Ella Del Rosario. The Mustangs were able to score a 5-meter to add to their total but freshman Lily Briones and Olivia Whipple each added goals to give the Dons a 9-4 lead at the end of the quarter.

The final quarter started off with an unbelievable shot from the outside by freshman Malin Stone. And some great saves by freshman goalie, Lucy McShane. The Lady Dons prevailed over the Monter Vista Mustangs with a score of 10-6.
