The Girls Varsity Tennis team had two rematches again this week. On Tuesday, the Dons defeated the Las Lomas Knights, matching their 6-3 victory against them on September 24th. On Thursday, the Dons lost to the Northgate Broncos 5-4, but narrowed the gap after falling 7-2 against them on September 26th.
Las Lomas Knights
On Tuesday, the girls defeated the Knights 6-3. On the singles side, the lineup was the same as usual, with Aamena Shipchandler playing Line 1, Piper Duff Line 2, Emily Roberts Line 3, Grace Colaco Line 4, Sienna Moise Line 5, and Kate Widmann Line 6. Emily won 6-0, 6-1, Grace won 6-2, 6-2, Sienna won 6-0, 6-0 (aka the double bagel), and Kate won 6-3, 6-4. The doubles teams achieved a sweep as the Line 1 team of Lauren Foster and Ridhi Patel won 7-5, 6-2, the Line 2 team of Riley Zirkel and Grace Britto won 6-2, 6-2, and the Line 3 team of Sadie Moise and Hetty Lofting survived two tiebreakers to win 7-6, 7-6.
Northgate Broncos
On Thursday, the girls fought valiantly but narrowly fell 5-4 against the Broncos. On the singles side, only Emily Roberts secured a victory, winning 6-1, 6-2 although Kate Widmann pushed her opponent to a third set tiebreaker. The doubles teams achieved another sweep. The Line 1 team of Lauren Foster and Ridhi Patel cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 victory. The Line 2 team of Riley Zirkel and Grace Britto won a very tight contest, losing the first set 6-4, winning the second set 6-4, and winning the tiebreaker 10-8. The Line 3 team of Sadie Moise and Hetty Lofting started off slow, falling behind 5-2 in the first set before roaring back to take the first set 7-6 and continuing the momentum to take the second set 6-4. It was a good day for Broncos as the Denver Broncos also defeated the New Orleans Saints on Thursday night football.
