After blowing out Concord and Campolindo last week, the Varsity Softball team dropped a non
conference tilt against the D1 Monte Vista Mustangs 12-2 on Monday. The full moon brought out
some interesting umpiring escapades, but in the end it just wasn’t meant to be.
Senior Lana Cerejo got the start in the circle and went 3 innings, giving up 3 hits, 3 walks and 3 runs. She was relieved by Sophomore Maya Shoenhair. Maya also pitched 3 innings and gave up 3 earned runs with 6 hits, 3 walks and 3 strikeouts for the Dons.
Junior superstars Emme Young (centerfield) and Esa Orman (catcher/first base) led the Acalanes offense. They both had a hit and a walk. Esa’s hit knocked in 2 runners for the home 9. Freshman shortstop Riley Zirkel and Freshman left fielder Vanessa Choi each scored a run.
The Dons are currently 12-5, with a 4-1 league record. They play the Northgate Broncos on Thursday in Walnut Creek at 4:30pm. The Broncos are currently in first place with a 5-0 league record and were ranked #23 in the Bay Area by Max Preps this week. This should be quite a battle. Come out and see this young and exciting squad perform soon. There are 5 games left in the season before the NCS Playoffs begin. It’s time to start another winning streak. Go Dons!
